LIFE, BUSINESS & LEGACY
BUILD A BUSINESS
THAT SUPPORTS YOUR LIFE.
Not a life that disappears inside your business.
Life By Design is a guided assessment and planning process for entrepreneurs, investors and business owners who want their growth to produce more than revenue. It puts the person and the business in the same conversation, because that is where the honest answer lives.
Own your story. Build with intention. Lead with integrity. Leave a legacy.
The question underneath all of it
A business can grow while the life around it gets smaller. Revenue up, team up, pipeline up — and less of you at home, less margin in your week, less certainty about whether any of it is going where you meant it to go.
That is not a motivation problem and it is rarely a strategy problem. It is what happens when the business is the only thing getting designed.
So this process asks five questions and refuses to let you answer them separately:
- What are you building?
- Why does it matter?
- What is it costing you?
- Who is depending on you?
- What needs to change so your success becomes sustainable?
What this is not
It is not an attempt to optimise every corner of your life at once. Handed a hundred tasks, nobody does any of them.
It is not a test of how impressive your life looks. The assessment is a conversation tool, not a grade, and there is deliberately no combined score — a strong business rating should never be allowed to hide a serious family concern, and a hard season should never become a label you carry around.
It is not a substitute for a professional. Financial, medical, mental health, legal, tax and estate questions get mapped so you can see the gaps and get the right person involved. Coaching does not fill those seats.
And it is not a promise about your outcome. Nobody can make you one honestly.
This is one piece of a bigger picture; more of Ben Lovro's writing on real estate, business and systems has the rest.
The shape of it
- An honest starting point. A short intake before anyone talks — what prompted this, what feels heavy, what is already working, and what the plan is not allowed to cost you.
- A kickoff that finds the real obstacle. Most presenting problems are symptoms. An hour spent identifying what actually deserves attention first is worth more than a month spent on the wrong thing.
- A ninety-day ownership plan. No more than three outcomes, each one measurable, each one owned by a named person, each one with a first action and a date.
- A weekly review that tells the truth. Six questions, every week, about what you said versus what happened.
Then it repeats, and the point of the repetition is not compliance with a worksheet. It is follow-through that gets more dependable each quarter.

The 9 pages that make up Life By Design
The Principles
The convictions underneath the process: own your story, protect what matters with systems, treat leverage as responsibility, and practise legacy now.
The 12 Areas
The twelve-area snapshot behind Life By Design, rated on the last thirty days rather than your intentions, with no combined score by design.
How It Works
The sequence: an honest intake before anyone talks, a kickoff that finds the obstacle beneath the symptoms, then a ninety-day plan and weekly reviews.
The 90-Day Plan
How a vague intention becomes an observable outcome with a named owner, a first action, a date, and a stop list that makes the tradeoff visible.
BOSS for Life
The BOSS framework as a practical operating tool for the whole picture: clarify the life, define the work, assign ownership, build the system, measure it.
The Weekly Review
Six questions that turn a ninety-day plan into something that survives contact with a real week, and why honest feedback beats perfect compliance.
Who It's For
The situations this process fits, the ones it does not, and the cheaper or better options for people it is wrong for. Disqualification is a service.
Faith & Conviction
Ben's faith is the reason this work exists and it is never imposed. The intake asks how much faith-based discussion you welcome, and the answer is honoured.
Privacy
No passwords, no full account numbers, no ID documents, no medical records. What stays in your hands, what permissions are separate, and where professionals take over.

Frequently asked
Questions people actually ask
What is Life By Design, in one sentence?
A guided assessment and planning process that brings your life and your business into the same conversation, then converts what you find into a ninety-day plan with named owners, measurable outcomes and a weekly review.
How is this different from the business coaching?
Business coaching changes how you operate as an owner. Consulting changes how the business works. Life By Design starts a layer above both: it asks whether the business you are optimising is the one you should be building, and whether the life around it can survive the growth. Plenty of people need one of the other two instead, and being told that is a legitimate outcome of the first conversation.
Is there a score at the end?
No, and that is deliberate. You rate twelve areas, but the ratings never combine. Averaging a strong business against a struggling marriage produces a number that is true of nothing and useful to no one.
Do I have to share your faith?
No. Ben's faith is the reason he does this work and he is not vague about that. The intake asks directly how much faith-based discussion you actually welcome, and the answer is honoured. People who want none get none.
What do you collect about me?
Less than you would expect. No passwords, no full bank account numbers, no identification documents, no detailed medical records. Some worksheets are designed to stay in your hands and never be submitted at all. There is a whole page on this.
Is this for my business or for me?
Both, which is the point. If you only want the business half, the operations and coaching material is a better fit and costs you less.
What happens if I do the work and it does not fix anything?
That is possible and worth naming up front. What the process reliably produces is clarity about what matters, honesty about what is costing you, and a smaller set of commitments you can actually keep. Whether that changes your circumstances depends on things no coach controls.
Make your next move
A year from now, what will you be glad you started today?
You don't need another promise that everything will be easy. You need something useful to learn — and a next step you're willing to take.
